Business Disability Forum’s Film Festival, supported by Barclays is one of our annual flagship events, our film festival screens a wide-ranging programme of films with disability-related perspectives, challenging assumptions and attitudes and opening eyes to the reality of living with a disability.

We are a not-for-profit member organisation that makes it easier and more rewarding to do business with and employ disabled people. Our members employ almost 20% of the UK workforce and, together, we seek to remove the barriers between public and private organisations and disabled people.

Take part in our 7 day film challenge and present your creation to our membership which includes organisations such as Sainsbury’s, KPMG, BBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, ITV, BT, Shell, GlaxoSmithKline plus many more!

All entrants will have the chance to win a work placement with a film production company plus much more if they can answer our question about disability, travel and career progression.

We will be releasing the official question via email on Tuesday 27 March 2018 you will have 7 days to create your film and submit it by the deadline Tuesday 3 April 2018.

Your entry will be judged by a panel of leaders from the world of TV, Film and disability.

The winning films will be screened at our Film Festival on 20 June 2018 @ KMPG Canary Wharf! The top three finalists will also be invited to the see their films screened at our annual Film Festival on 20 June 2018 hosted by KPMG and supported by Barclays. All films will be audio described and captioned for a fully accessible viewing experience.

Following the screening you will have the opportunity to meet and network with our membership, HR, Diversity and Inclusion managers from companies such as Barclays, Lloyds, Microsoft, Google, Loreal, Microlink, Fujitstu and more over canapés, beverages and popcorn!

How to enter

You can submit your entry as an individual or as a team of up to three members it’s up to you! Create your film with your phone, laptop, point and shoot camera or DSLR camera, the choice is yours!

Requirements:

  • All teams should be up to three members and all teams need to have a spokesperson/director.

  • Film length: 5- 10 mins.

  • Format: .AVI, .MP4 or .WMV.

  • We need to receive all entries via WeTransfer.


Remember your work will be played on the big screen so make sure you record in a high enough quality.
Don’t forget to save all your work as we may come back to you with questions.

  • Genre? Your film can be fiction, non-fiction, animation, documentary, drama, experimental, or artistic etc. – there is no genre restriction.
  • Who can participate? We welcome films from students and graduates. We particularly welcome films featuring cast or crew with disabilities, but this is not a requirement for entry.
